The cartouche-shaped caned backrest with serpentine top rail and carved with flowerheads and foliate scrolls, the leaf-carved wooden armrests raised on voluted supports, the serpentine-fronted carved to match the backrest and raised on short cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes.”

Mått: Bredd fram: 70 cm

In English: This ”Fauteuil à la Reine” – A chair for the queen – was previously owned by the Queen of the Hollywood Stars – Greta Garbo. It was placed in her tasteful furnished apartment at 450 East 52nd Street, Manhattan, New York where she lived for four decades until her death 1990. The auction was held in November 1990 and a lovely catalogue describes her home and each sold item. There is a copy of the catalogue that will be delivered together with the chair. This furniture was exhibited 1990–2004, at the department store P.U.B in Stockholm, Sweden, where Greta Garbo (Gustafsson) worked and was discovered in the 1920s. The label from 1990 with the lot no. sits still on the back. From 2004 it has been placed in my home. Now she's ready to find a new home in the world.
